What is Great Community Give?

Great Community Give is a one‑day online giving event that supports 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. Now in its ninth year, this community‑wide day of giving unites donors near and far to invest in causes that strengthen our local community.

Join us on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. by visiting greatcommunitygive.org. With a minimum donation of just $10, anyone, anywhere can support local nonprofits and help amplify their impact.

Why is HCHC Participating?

At HCHC, we care for more than 14,000 patients every year, offering full‑scope care including pediatric services, women’s health, preventative care, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy services, and more. We believe healthcare should be accessible, affordable, and welcoming to everyone.

However, for people with disabilities, accessing medical care can still be difficult due to inaccessible medical diagnostic equipment (MDE). Exam tables that don’t adjust and weight scales that don’t accommodate wheelchairs create barriers, limiting care, compromising dignity, and contributing to health inequities.

That’s why, during Great Community Give, HCHC is raising funds to improve accessibility across our clinics.

Our 2026 Great Community Goal

With your support, we aim to raise funds to add:

  • Two accessible add‑ons for existing exam room tables, allowing them to become more ADA friendly
  • Two wheelchair‑accessible weight scales, ensuring accurate and inclusive health assessments

These upgrades help us meet ADA standards while ensuring that all patients, regardless of mobility, receive safe care.

  • Over $2.4 million in uncompensated care for patients who cannot afford to pay
  • Support services addressing transportation, food access, and other barriers to health
  • Care in the languages our patients speak, over half of our patients prefer a language other than English
  • Discounted prescriptions through our on‑site pharmacy

Every dollar helps ensure care is delivered in an accessible and affordable way, for all
